Smooth surfaces with wet blasting systems by SIGG
Sludge from the gun for an even matting
Wet blasting systems by SIGG Strahltechnik ensure superfine surfaces. Watches, jewelry and products in the medical technology area obtain superfine matting by use of wet blasting systems. Wet blasting systems by SIGG Strahltechnik are available in various sizes (700 – 1400 mm), optionally, in addition to the robust agitator, also with a sludge pump.
Sludge blasting process for smooth surfaces
By use of wet blasting systems, also known as „sludge blasting process“, the blasting abrasive and water are stirred up in a vessel and the mixture is then blasted under pressure at the workpiece by means of the injector action of the blasting gun. If higher pressure or larger volume flow is required, a sludge conveyor pump is additionally incorporated. The results are flawless, fine surfaces.
Suspended blasting abrasives
The wet blasting system utilizes finest blasting abrasives suspended in water. The liquid film, which builds up on the surface to be worked on, protects it from abrasion and damps the blasting action. Particularly spared are the microscopic cavities (pores) in the surface, which immediately fill up with water once work has started. Accordingly, it is mainly the groove peaks that are removed during the sludge blasting process. This results in a reduction of the surface roughness, which, for example, cannot be achieved to this extent by dry blasting.
