Metallic abrasives are all-rounders

Which metal abrasive is suitable for what?

Metallic abrasives for various tasks

Due to their specific properties, metallic abrasives can be used in many different ways. They are suitable for de-sanding, descaling or cleaning castings made of steel or stainless steel, but also for deburring, hardening or surface finishing. Castings can be processed as well as forgings, steel profiles or wires, alloyed workpieces or components made of non-metallic materials.

Economical thanks to long service life: metallic abrasives impress

Metallic abrasives have the great advantage that they can be prepared relatively easily and thus help to keep the operating costs for blasting processes low. Metallic abrasives include steel granules, stainless steel granules and chilled casting granules, but also brass grit, corundum and white corundum. During blasting, metallic blasting media, such as steel shot, can be reused up to 100 times, depending on the hardness of the blasting material, making it particularly economical.

Stainless steel abrasive is particularly efficient

Blasting media made from stainless steel have a particularly long service life with short blasting times. They are particularly suitable for blasting stainless steel surfaces and ensure largely dust-free blasting. To produce stainless steel granulate, selected stainless steel scrap is usually melted down, alloyed and then atomised.

Chilled casting gravel cleans especially well

Metallic abrasives such as chilled casting gravel have particularly good cleaning properties. The chilled casting gravel breaks into angular pieces during the blasting process, resulting in a permanent mixture of sharp-edged grains. Even after several blasting passes, this angular shape is retained so that the effect of the blasting medium does not diminish. This metallic abrasive is often used in the automotive industry, as it can be used to efficiently blast vehicle components or engine parts.

Metallic abrasives are available from us in the widest range of designs and compositions. We would be pleased to check which blasting medium is the right one for your workpieces on the basis of sample parts. Take advantage of our expertise and give us a call.
